Alison Bunning was called in to oversee the conservation of these important wall paintings when they were uncovered during routine maintenance work in this small Grade II* listed Devon church. With four schemes of paintings; the earliest dating from the early Medieval period, the philosophy of the conservation work was informed by much careful analysis and background research. Specialist conservators undertook the work, revealing the different layers around the remnants of this significant rood screen.
